Bulan Ramadhan tahun 2009 sudah tiba ke penghujungnya. Kami sekeluarga ingin mengucapkan Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir & Batin kepada semua keluarga, sedara mara, dan sahabat handai. Last Saturday we had a trip to York, organized by the U of Bradford. Pegi naik bas. We departed at about 9:00 AM and arrived around 10:30 AM..quite a short journey. Sampai je the organizer lepaskan kitorang untuk jalan sindri2. So kitorang pun jalanler, sambil ambik2 gambar...penat jugak..we went to the National Railway Museum, York Minster, the river..banyak tempat nak masuk kena bayar ler, so, kitorang skip ajeler..teringin nak masuk Jorvic Viking exhibition tapi dekat £26 kena bayar nak masuk whole family...pehhh..makan nasi beriani kat restaurant Lahore lagi best..he he...so next trip...London he he..budget besar tuh...

Ripley's Carboot

Last Sunday we went to a carboot in Ripley, about 1 hour drive from Bradford...there are few things that we bought cheap...among those are..

2. Teletubbies set hahaa...dua2 aril & alia suka betul tengok teletubbies..so when we found this set just for a pound, we bought it..

Trip to Alton Towers Theme Park

Last Saturday we went to Alton Towers theme park. Lebih kurang macam genting je tempat dia. The weather is a bit cold and cloudy. So that day we spent about 8 hours walking, queuing, and going on to some rides...quite tiring but it was fun..the tickets were purchased at ebay for about £18...okler..dapat bawak budak2 ni jalan2...Here are some of the pictures taken...tak banyak ambik sebab terlupa nak charge battery camera, half way through, bateri camera habis he he...so ambik gambar ngan henpon je lahh....

So finally, I've decided to do Master. I've submitted the application, online. Next I have to submit the supporting documents. Hopefully it got accepted, wish me luck. It's MSc in Manufacturing Management...that's the closest thing to Chemical Engineering that they have...oklaa..then I have to apply for sponsorship...hmm..JPA, Mara, sekarang tengah gawat diorang ada ke duit...it's not much, just the tuition fee, around £12,000...no need monthly allowance, I can survive with part time job and spouse allowance from my wife's scholarship. So now just wait, and wait....

Trip ke Birmingham dan Nottingham

23 May haritu saya sekeluarga decided nak gi jalan2 ke Birmingham dan Nottingham...mula2 nak ke Nottingham je, tapi sebab kawan Atie di Birmingham yang satu flight haritu baru lepas bersalin, so kitorang decide nak melawat lah. The drive to Birmingham took about two and a half hour. Malam tu kitorang tidur di rumah kawan Atie - Azlihan&Nita. Thanks for the hospitality. Besoknya kitorang jalan2 di kota Birmingham...memang besar ler bandar ni, lebih besar drp Bradford he he..sempatler gi melawat Stadium Aston Villa FC, U of Birmingham, Stadium Birmingham City FC. Lepas habis jalan2 di kota Birmingham, petang tu kitorang bergerak ke Nottingham. Perjalanan mengambil masa lebih kurang sejam lebih. Malam tu dan malam besoknya kitorang tidur di rumah Syahnizam&Mazlina. Besoknya tu belah pagi kitorang pegi carboot sales di Calverton dan petangnya pegi University of Nottingham. Esoknya hari Isnin, kitorang bergerak ke Stoke-and-Trent, tempat membeli pinggan mangkuk. Wife ada ler beli beberapa set pinggan mangkuk Portmeirion..selepas habis shopping, kitorang pun bergerak balik ke Bradford..terima kasih kepada host2 kami di Birmingham dan Nottingham for your hospitality...insyaAllah kalau ada rezeki kitorang datang lagi...

Rumpun Bradford Family 2009

Hari Ahad haritu, kami sekeluarga berkesempatan ikut serta Hari Keluarga Rumpun Bradford 2009...lokasi nya di Bolton Abbey, lebih kurang 40-50 minutes from Bradford...pegi sana convoy..bertolak lebih kurang 7:30 pagi..sampai dekat2 pukul 9. Memang seronokler kalau ada aktiviti family day ni...dapat kenal2 dengan semuorang...lepas penghulu berucap, aku kena panggil dengan tok penghulu suruh introduce kan diri dan keluarga...sebab baru sampai ngeh ngeh..sungguh tak prepare..hentam sajala...so ni antara gambar yang sempat di ambil...

1. Aril dan alia tengah bersiap nak bertolak..kalau kat Malaysia takdeler nak pakai booster ni..main hantam duduk je kat belakang...

Hari ni first day aril ke sekolah selepas cuti easter. Dia masih takut2 lagi, so I have to sit with him in the class for about an hour. Bila dia dah jumpa komputer, dan start main2 game dalam tu, ok dahler. Penat jugak pujuk dia. Lama2 dia bersetuju gak untuk ditinggalkan. Siap suruh ambik balik pukul 5 padahal kelas habis pukul 3. Harap2 lepas ni dah boleh tinggalkan teruslah. Slow2 mungkin dia tak paham sepatah haram lagi apa yang cikgu cakap kot he he he...tu yang takut tuh.
Sebelum ni prepare lunch untuk dia, tapi starting next week mungkin makan makanan sekolah kot. Bayar £7 seminggu. Bagus jugak sekolah ni ada Halal food programme. Bila dia makan sama macam orang lain makan, lebih senang nak blend in.
Sekarang nak hantar mak dia pulak pegi sekolah...bye bye..

1st April haritu, bukan maknya saja first day kena report at school, aril pun first day pegi sekolah. Dia masuk kelas reception, a class prior to darja 1 la lebih kurang. We wanted to send him to Bowling Park school, sebab ramai malaysian hantar situ, ikut je lah. Tapi kat sekolah tu dah penuh, so we send him to then other school, St. Stephen school...takde malaysian situ, aril will be the only malaysian..I have to stay with him in the class for about an hour...sebab dia takut he he...2nd day I just send him at the door...bila dia masuk je aku terus blah he he..bila balik petang tu dia citer dia menangis jugak sebab bapaknya takde he he..tapi lama2 okler...masuk 3rd day, nak kena teman jugak...dia takut lagi...last2 aku blah aje sebab kena hantar wife gi U dia ada appointment dengan supervisor...meraung2 dia nangis kat pintu...assistant cikgu kena pegang dia he he...siann aril..now tengah cuti easter 2 minggu...habis cuti besok tak tauler camne..kena teman lagi kot...isk isk...

Wahh..lamanya tak update blog. Sorryler lama betul nak dapat internet kat UK ni. Sejuk gaks bila sampai sini. Quite different from masa kat Montreal dulu. Even though Montreal is much much colder than here, we live in an apartment, where the gas bill is included in the rent(rent mahal ler, tapi kongsi 2-3 orang, tak rasa sangat), so we use the central heating 24 hours, panas rumah. But over here, we have to pay our own gas bill, so nak save duit, tak bukak ler central heating, sanggup bersejuk dalam rumah hahaha...sejuk weih...
anyway, as promise, I'll post some pictures that I took starting from airport until now...

Tomorrow, or today actually since it's already 12:40 am when I wrote this, will be my last day in Polyplastics. So yesterday evening my boss was kind enough to organize some small farewell party in the office. Above pictures are my section's team, well except didie189. Saja je ajak dia sekali bergambar. My boss is standing the first on the left. Quite sad to leave my friends behind but I just had to. Thank you Polyplastics!..

16 more days before I go to Bradford, UK. Flight internary pun dah ada...we're going to Bradford melalu Amsterdam he he...boleh singgah pegi red light districts...mana tau jumpa sufiah...so sekarang ni kitorang tengah sibuk packing packing and packing....semalam baru je lepas kebas beberapa kotak di pintu belakang sebuah pasaraya di Kuantan hahaha...banyak jugak barang nak packing...pakaian ada yang nak simpan, nak bagi orang, nak buang pun ada...nasib baik barang2 perabot tak perlu packing sebab rumah tu akan disewakan fully furnish heheh...

so Bradford, here we come! ...

Alhamdulillah, our visa application has been approved. UK, here we come! he he...so it took about 5 days to process our application. OKlaa...so next step, book our airline tickets, and then packing, packing and packing...what to bring huh...I want to bring my PC lah..CPU only la. Takut kena tahan kat airport je. Wahh...excitednya....

Visa Application

Last week I went to the Visa application centre in Jalan Ampang to submit my UK visa application (whole family). It was quite a smooth process because there was not so many ppl submitting at that time...our appointment was at 10:15 AM but we arrive around 9:30 AM and since there's no ppl waiting we went straight to the counter and submit our applications. No need to wait. For future applicants, make sure you make a list of all the documents you want to submit because that's the first thing they ask and that is what we didn't have at that time he he..so we have to write down all the documents we're submitting on the spot. One thing weird though, they didn't ask for our medical checkup. We've ask few times, what about our medical checkup and they said it's not required. Hmm..buat penat je aku bawak file x-ray yang besar gedabak tu. Maybe they will ask when we arrive in UK, I dunno. After documents submission completed, we went for biometric scans. Only me and my wife were required to do this. Alia and Aril not required because they were below 5 years old.
So Visa application is complete, and now we wait for the result. I really hope all the applications are approved quickly. Because we need to book the airline ticket on the 20th March a.s.a.p. takut tiket habis.

One week break!

Due to recent drop in sales, our plant will be closed for a week for CNY. Everybody had to take leaves. What to do, company's order. So I'll be spending the whole week next week at my wife's hometown, Batu Pahat (Bagan Laut, Rengit). There will be no internet he he...I'll be spending my time relaxing, taking photos with my E-520 and maybe go to Singapore jalan2...so see you guys and gals again in about a week, cheers!

It's official now, I'm an Olympussy..:) I just bought my first DSLR camera, the Olympus E-520 last Friday. It's cost me about RM2.2K for the twin kit lens set. Ok la for starter. Now can join arbaq and didie in the DSLR club..:) Only my gear the cheapest lah har har. I thought I want to go out for street shooting and learn some few pointers from my friend Amir on Sunday but my daughter not feeling very well, so I had to rush back to Kuantan on that day. So my photo outing with him to be postponed on CNY in Batu Pahat...in the mean time, I'll just start shooting and playing with my new toy on my own he he...my life as a DSLR owner begins!!

Yesterday I just made a big move in my life. I've resigned from Polyplastics. It's a 2 months notice. It's not that I'm having a new job, but I'll be leaving to UK in about 2 months time to accompany my wife to pursue her PhD there. It's done. No turning back now. I hope everything goes as plan because right now, I have no backup plan har har har...insyaAllah semuanya ok. So my friend, after 21st of March 2009, I'll be logging in to skype, facebook, blog from Bradford, United Kingdom, insyaAllah.

I'm turning 34 this year and baru nak naik Senior Engineer...sungguh tak perform. My target to be a Manager by 35 mungkin tak kesampaian. Oh well, people get what they deserve. Aku terima dengan hati yang terbuka dan penuh kesyukuran.
Yang paling menarik, what did I do when I received the good news? Continue skyping and fbing, and now blogging, patutler lambat naik har har har har.

Langkawi Vacation 2008

Minggu lepas aku pegi pulau langkawi…konon percutian hujung tahun ler nih..aku pegi dua family, family aku dan family arbaq. Ni second time ler aku pegi Pulau Langkawi tahun ni. The first time aku pegi masa awal tahun dengan wife, kids, parents, parents in-law, brother and sister. That one was pure shopping because we stayed in Bandar Kuah je. Kali kedua ni mixed ler with shopping and island hopping, and of course visiting historical places. Sebenarnya, ni arbaq punya plan nak bercuti di Langkawi di hujung tahun, aku saja je menyibuk nak ikut sekali har har har…kali ni aku nak gi Island Hopping..

So first day, we arrived at the Condo Istana, which is located right in the middle of Bandar Kuah at around midnite. Okla condo dia. We stayed there for 2 nights. Masa ni shopping je la kat Bandar Kuah. Tapi tak banyak pun barang beli..antaranya luggage bag. We were looking for Loewe, Coach, or Hindmarch but couldn’t find it, so we settled with a Polo luggage bag he he he. After that we went to the Snake sanctuary nak tengok ular. Arbaq busy snapping pictures this time…snap here..snap there…yang best ambik gambar kitorang dengan ular sawa warna kuning..

The second day kitorang decided nak gi naik cable car….pehh…gayat gaks. Tinggi betul cable car dia. Bila dah hampir sampai atas, aku yang macho ni pun ada terasa gayat gak. My wife nak gerak pun tak berani. Takut he he he…tapi bila sampai atas pemandangan dia memang cun aaa…aku pun ambikler beberapa gambar dengan camera Nikon compact aku ni sambil arbaq melayan Nikon D80 nya he he he.

Untuk hari ketiga dan keempat, kitorang stayed at Best Star Hotel, Pantai Cenang. Our room just near the beach he he he. Ini ler antara waktu yang best sebab dapat cuci materrr har har har…my one pair of eyes was so happy this time...

Petang lepas check-in best star hotel tu aku dan arbaq melepak di pantai cenang nak menunggu sun set…arbaq standby dengan D80 nya dan aku dengan Coolpix 5600 ku…tapi hajat tidak kesampaian sebab awan tebal, tak nampak sunset…kuciwa pada hari pertama…

Malam tu, aku dan arbaq pegi reggae bar he he he, ada live reggae band performance…mat saleh keliling order Tiger Beer…kitorang belasah Coke, jadilahhh…dapat gak tengok mat saleh nak minah saleh tua yang dah pencen berjoget2 reggae…barulah reggaeeeeeeeeee……

Pagi hari ketiga, kitorang pegi Island Hopping. We rented the whole boat for ourselves for RM 200. Kitorang pegi Pulau Dayang Bunting, watch eagle feeding (tak banyak pun sebab masa tu hujan gerimis dan angin kuat) dan Pulau Beras Basah. Masa ni aku rasa macam berapa puas sebab tak dapat mandi kat tasik dayang bunting dan pulau beras basah…aku ingat jalan2 je rupanya boleh mandi sekali…aku pakai jeans ngan t-shirt jek hehe..tak bawak baju extra…patut bawak aku punya 2 pieces swimming suit…tapi overall ok jugakler..dapat merasa naik boat lajuuu…

Balik je drp Island Hopping kitorang gi mandi laut di pantai cenang....then petang tu aku dan arbaq went for second attempt on the sun set...but again, hatikukuciwa sebab tak nampak jugak sebab awan tebal...kena pegi kemasik jugak macam ni…

Last day kitorang pegi round menghabiskan minyak Toyota Innova yang kitorang sewa. Antaranya Beras Terbakar, Makam Mahsuri, Langkawi Parade, Langkawi Fair….lepas tu gi airport check-in dan menunggu masa nak balik…

Itu jelah yang aku ingat…tak tauler kalau arbaq nak tambah apa2…it was an enjoyable trip..

Mark this date and time, the birthday of my blog....yeayyy. So why suddenly I decided to write a blog huh? Well, maybe because sometime next year I'll be jobless har har..so I have lots of time to surf the net, so I might as well write a blog. Normally I see ppl pick a topic first before they write something, that way, their thoughts will be more organized and easier to understand...so let me pick a topic first because I've been staring at the monitor with both hands on the keyboard for about 10 minutes thinking what to write....no idea! har har...so maybe my each entry will be short because I'm not much of a writer myself...and my grammar will be berterabur lah..ahh who cares...
